The ball I bought him will have to wait until next year

I had to take the dog to the vet today. The vet suspects that Haddy had a tiny scratch or bite on his leg that he attempted to self-treat by licking it. Compulsively, of course, because there's no other way to do it when you're a dog with ADHD. And obstinate-defiant disorder.  Anyway, his efforts resulted in him licking away a patch of fur that was at least 2 inches in diameter, and an infection. Nice.

A course of antibiotics, topical cream to be administered sparingly twice daily, and $133 later, I am intent on following the vet's instructions to "not let him lick the wound" because what we don't want, apparently, is a "licking granuloma", or to spend another $100+ on further treatment.

My first attempt at prevention

didn't work so well, actually. He had that sucker off and in pieces in 2 seconds flat.

My second attempt

seems to be working just fine. But can you tell Haddy is not happy about it?

Just wait til he finds out that that's his christmas present.

Just tell him he's a Dog Martini and I'm sure he'll be fine with it.
